Profile
For more than 30 years, (now)
Danish Antique&Modern by Jimmy Benjamin Nielsen has been a leading export wholesale business of Danish Architect Design furniture. Here you find one of Denmark’s biggest businesses within Danish vintage furniture design. Furniture stores all over the world visit Jimmy"s 2500 M2 warehouse; he has close contact with clients in USA, Japan and other Asian countries as well as Europe and Australia. In Storebaelt Antik & Modern, Jimmy has pooled all his experiences and created the business concept that customers have been looking for.

An important characteristic of Jimmy is his sensitivity about market signals and trends. In the warehouse you will find the new trends and tendencies that are influencing interior design and decoration.

Danish Antique&Modern places value on having a large selection of furniture, fair prices and a view for trends in combination with customer demands.

These principles constitute the foundation for long and lasting relations to customers, which is of vital importance for Jimmy"s visions for his business.

Danish Design and vintage furniture:
From 1930 and onwards the minimalistic and functionalistic ideas of Danish architects and designers were combined with good craftsmanship of carpenters as well as innovation within production and choices of material. For many years the combination of craftsmanship and innovation was the formula for success in Scandinavia – headed by Denmark. To day we refer to the period as “Danish Design”.

In
Danish Antique&Modern, Jimmy Benjamin Nielsen have chosen not only to focus on well-known ’stars’ among the designers and architects, but also to include many brilliant craftsmen who helped create a solid foundation for the common man’s possibility of owning a ‘bite of the innovation within furniture production’. Thanks to the excellent quality and the timeless and (yet) modern design we find an astounding amount of furniture that has survived.

In
Danish Antique&Modern we prefer that the furniture looks the way it was when it came through the door. The history of the furniture is conveyed through the beautiful patina - its use through many years. It radiates the soul of the furniture. To day we label it ‘vintage’. Minor wear and tear is inevitable. If you want new furniture, buy new furniture. We deal in history, soul and patina - some people call it (rightly) ART.

Danish Antique&Modern often denotes furniture on our website of the designers names and the names of the manufacturers.

This is done in good faith and based on existing litterature, statements from reliable sources from the internet and physical auction houses as well as online auction houses.

Sometimes new information pops up - and knowledge  that has not previously been available - is listed on the website. This may mean that a given piece of furniture is updated with new history - e.g. in the area of design, form of production etc.

Danish Antique&Modern disclaims any liability for changes in these conditions. All names are given based on the then available facts, which continuously are updated and modernized. It is therefore not possible for previous customers to return goods that are bought and paid for.

If we at
Danish Antique&Modern estimate that the particular piece of furniture is too damaged and will appear better when it has had upholstering or been to visit our carpenter, we will inform you before a possible sale.

Rosewood:
Rosewood refers to a group of timber varieties, which are similar in characteristics to Rio Rosewood (also known as Palisander or Brazilian Rosewood). Furniture from the 1950s to 1980s saw an increase in the number of timber varieties used as alternatives to Rio Rosewood. Due to their similar characteristics, species such as Beech (with an applied grain effect), Indian Rosewood, Madagascan Rosewood, Honduras Rosewood, Jacaranda, Pau Rosa, Paduk and Bubinga were also used.

Unless otherwise indicated, Rosewood refers to this grouping of timbers, NOT Rio Rosewood. When furniture has been made using Rio Rosewood it will be nominated in the material description. Furniture made using Rio Rosewood is sold with a Cites Certificate from the Danish Nature Agency for trade within the EU. The permit is valid for one sale only. When trading outside of the EU seek export / import authorisation for extradition.

Recycle:
In
Danish Antique&Modern we deal in used furniture and through that we promote a better environment.

When we repair the furniture we use environmental materials and treat it with 100 % organic materials.

We use means of transportation that contaminate with lowest possible emission. We pack and use only recycled materials like paper, cardboard, plastics or cloth. In
Danish Antique&Modern we care about the environment and our future world.

Do the earth a favour – recycle your furniture.
